‘Chainsmoker Cat’ anime reveals theme song artists, new trailer ahead of July 2026 premiere

The upcoming anime adaptation of Chainsmoker Cat has released a brand-new promotional trailer, giving fans a closer look at the eccentric feline-led series while officially revealing the artists behind its opening and ending theme songs. The latest preview arrives just weeks before the anime’s scheduled July 2026 debut and offers the clearest look yet at the show's tone, animation style and musical direction.

Based on the viral manga and social media character phenomenon, Chainsmoker Cat has attracted considerable attention for its unusual premise centered on a cigarette-smoking stray cat navigating a gritty yet comedic urban world.

The newly released trailer highlights the series’ blend of deadpan humor, slice-of-life storytelling and surreal visual comedy. The footage introduces viewers to several key characters while emphasizing the rough-edged city setting that serves as the backdrop for the story. The promotional video also provides a more detailed look at the anime’s animation quality and character interactions ahead of its summer launch.



A portion of the opening theme is featured throughout the trailer, giving fans their first opportunity to hear the series’ musical identity.

Crunchyroll confirmed that Japanese rock band Wasureranneyo will perform the anime’s opening theme song, titled “Nanmonee.”

The ending theme will be performed by Necry Talkie, a popular Japanese rock group known for its energetic sound and distinctive vocal style. Their ending song, titled “Kemuri to Blue” (“Beyond the Smoke”), is expected to complement the series’ unconventional atmosphere and urban themes.

The anime stars Yuko Natsuyoshi as the main character Yaniko, the cigarette-smoking catgirl at the center of the story. Additional cast members include Misato Matsuoka as Yakuneko and Yurie Funato as Hameneko. The series has continued expanding its supporting cast since its original announcement, with producers gradually revealing additional character details through promotional materials.

The latest trailer also reinforces the anime’s previously announced premiere date of July 2, 2026.
