CBS unveils Fall 2026-27 TV schedule: Here’s what changes as Matlock and Ghosts move midseason, new series take center stage
CBS has unveiled its Fall 2026-27 television lineup. Popular shows Matlock and Ghosts will premiere midseason. New series like NCIS: New York, Eternally Yours, and Cupertino are set to debut. The NCIS franchise remains a key focus. Procedural dram...

Network executives framed this not as a demotion but a strategic timing choice, intended to support the launch of new content while preserving these hits for a strong second half of the TV season.
Ghosts, now in its sixth season, will still deliver two special holiday-themed episodes (a Halloween and a “Ghostmas” special) during the fall, which are expected to count toward its full season order.
Matlock, starring Kathy Bates and renewed for a third season, will return alongside its colleagues in the midseason cycle but exact premiere dates have yet to be announced.
What’s new in CBC fall schedule
Several new series are confirmed to lead CBS’s fall schedule:
- NCIS: New York: A new NCIS franchise entry starring LL Cool J (reprising his role as Sam Hanna) and Scott Caan. Positioned on Tuesday nights at 9 pm, this series strengthens CBS’s ever-growing NCIS lineup, sandwiched between the flagship NCIS and NCIS: Origins on key broadcast nights.
- Eternally Yours: A vampire-themed comedy with an unusual love story, scheduled for Thursday nights 8:30 pm, following Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
- Cupertino: A legal drama set against Silicon Valley culture, anchoring late-night Thursday at 10 pm after Elsbeth, scheduled for 9 pm.
The NCIS franchise remains a cornerstone of CBS’s strategy. With NCIS: New York, NCIS, NCIS: Origins and NCIS: Sydney (the latter delayed to midseason) the network continues to leverage a franchise model that has delivered consistent ratings.
Beyond NCIS, CBS’s fall will feature strong procedural content with shows like FBI and CIA (moved to early evening slots), fortifying Monday night lineups.
While comedies are fewer on the current slate, series like Eternally Yours and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage are positioned to complement CBS’s overall comedy footprint without overwhelming it.
