X goes down again, second outage this week
Elon Musk-owned social media platform X has suffered another outage, marking the second disruption this week, with users reporting blank timelines, failed searches, and repeated “something went wrong” error messages.

Outage trackers showed a fresh spike in complaints as the issue persisted for several minutes. According to Downdetector, a platform that tracks internet outages, over 6,000 reports were recorded on Friday evening in India. Initial complaints started pouring in around 8:30 pm.

More than half of the users reported that neither the app nor the website of the microblogging platform was accessible.

In the US, the number of reports crossed 79,000, with most users reporting issues with both the app and the website, while around 10% flagged problems with server connections.

The exact reason for the outage remains unclear, and the company has not yet explained the disruption.

Earlier this week, the platform saw a global outage, with over 28,000 users logging complaints on alternative platforms. While X has not publicly addressed the issue, the recent disruptions are likely linked to technical faults, including server and infrastructure problems.

The latest disruption adds to a string of outages that X has faced over the past year.

In November 2025, the platform was hit by a major outage that lasted several hours and affected users worldwide. That earlier incident was traced to broader issues at Cloudflare, a key cloud and network services provider. Cloudflare had said it detected unusual surges in traffic, though the exact reason for the outage was not clearly identified.

The outage comes amid Elon Musk’s recent announcement to make X’s algorithm public, including its recommendation system.

“We will make the new X algorithm, including all code used to determine what organic and advertising posts are recommended to users, open source in seven days,” Musk posted, adding that updates would follow every four weeks along with detailed developer notes.
