The iPhone SE is being manufactured in India

Currently Apple’s cheapest offering, the iPhone SE was launched earlier this year and offers the performance of Apple’s more expensive phones in a compact size and price.

Apple has now announced that it will be assembling the budget smartphone in India, at its usual suppliers in Chennai and Bengaluru.

The SE is not the first iPhone Apple is building in India, having previously assembled the iPhone 6S and the first-generation SE in Bengaluru.

While the obvious benefits are that Indian sellers will have easier access to fresh stock of Apple’s now popular budget device, there is also the possibility that the phone could be priced cheaper for Indian customers.

With two festivals around the corner, pundits expect the phones to be subject to discounted prices or festival bundle offers that could be a major boon for Indian iPhone aficionados.
