Messaging platform WhatsApp said on Monday it is enhancing the joinable calls experience through integration to group chats.

The platform had launched its first stage of joinable calls a few months ago.

The company said group calls are contextual to group chats and users can now join them right from the chat tab. It said group calling is growing in popularity and integrating joinable calls gives WhatsApp users a 'spontaneous' way to connect with their family and friends groups. Users can call a WhatsApp group and join the call directly from the group chat. The notification will say the name of the group instead of participant names. Only people who are part of the group can join the call. The call will show in the chat list so people can see which groups have ongoing calls immediately after opening the app. "We are making it easier to connect spontaneously with your groups. Join ongoing calls with your groups anytime, effortlessly and directly from the chat view with one click," WhatsApp said in a statement.

"As the popularity of group calls continues to grow, we’ve been working to improve the experience for our users while of course still providing the security and privacy of end-to-end encryption," the company had said in a statement.
