US-based Padre Media buys digital tech media destination Guiding Tech

US-based Padre Media has acquired a New Delhi-based consumer tech site and YouTube channel Guiding Tech for an undisclosed amount.

The acquisition will include Guiding Tech's Hindi tech channel GT Hindi and its eponymous English tech channel that has a combined base of about two million subscribers. Post this deal, Padre Media will retain the entire Guiding Tech team. Founder Abhijeet Mukherjee will be leaving the business to explore new opportunities.

Started in 2010, Guiding Tech provides in-depth guides, how-tos, lists, and explainers across various topics in the consumer tech sector through its website and YouTube channels. It claims to be clocking over 4 million website visits on a monthly basis and had not raised any external funding.

"Guiding Tech has found a new home that will continue to grow the site's and YouTube channels' audience, and give it the attention and investment needed to take the GT brand to the next level," said Mukherjee.

This is the second acquisition for Padre Media, after buying an Apple-focused technology and resource site AppleToolBox in June this year. The firm also operates a portfolio of digital publishing businesses including a tech how-to site Technipages and Cleantech site Enrg.io. It had raised $16 million financing from The Phoenix Fund in May this year.
