UK competition watchdog begins probe into Getty Images-Shutterstock deal

Britain’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has opened an inquiry into Getty Images’ planned $3.7 billion merger with Shutterstock. The probe will assess whether the deal harms competition in the digital media market.

Britain's antitrust watchdog on Friday said it has launched an investigation into US-listed Getty Images' $3.7 billion merger with rival Shutterstock.

The Competition and Markets Authority said it set October 20 as the deadline for its phase I decision on the investigation.
