According to Downdetector, which tracks downtime on popular platforms, user reports of the outage spiked to over 2,000 around 6 pm, indicating the scale of the disruption.
The problems have affected core functions such as logging in, loading new posts and accessing both the app and website.
While 33%% users said they were unable to login, 47% reported problems with the X app and 20% with the website. In the US, reports have climbed to over 26,000.
In an earlier update, the company’s engineering team had stated: “We’re still experiencing issues from yesterday’s data centre outage. Login and signup services are unavailable for some users, and there may be delays in notifications and Premium features.”
While X has yet to reveal the exact cause or full extent of the incident, concerns are growing over the security of user data and the platform’s ability to restore access to private communications.
