SoftBank India has elevated its investment director Sarthak Misra to a partner, sources in the know said. The technology-focused investment fund also informed about the same to its India portfolio companies on Tuesday, multiple people aware of the matter told ET.

Misra, who joined SoftBank in 2019 from Matrix Partners India, sits on the board of ecommerce firm Meesho and business-to-business etailer OfBusiness besides working closely with companies like Swiggy and Lenskart.

A spokesperson for SoftBank India did not respond to ET's request for a comment.

Misra will continue to report to Sumer Juneja, managing partner for India & EMEA at SoftBank, who heads the India and Europe market for the fund.

Narendra Rathi, investment director at SoftBank Investment Advisors who looks at deals in the SaaS and business to business (B2B) sector, will also continue to report to Juneja who has been running the India investment team at SoftBank for more than five years.

Excluding Juneja, the India investment team has six executives. Vikas Agnihotri, an operating partner at SoftBank India, left the fund last year.

Since last year, SoftBank has not made any new investments in India amid the ongoing funding squeeze.

The Japanese investor, however, has been clocking exits from publicly listed companies like Paytm, Policybazaar. Delhivery and Zomato. Two portfolio firms of SoftBank – FirstCry and Ola Electric – have filed draft IPO papers to go public this year. Food and grocery delivery firm Swiggy too is preparing to file its draft red herring prospectus for an IPO this year.
