On Saturday, legendary British musician Elton John announced that he would quit Twitter, joining the long list of celebrities and public figures who decided to leave the world's microblogging platform after Elon Musk acquired it in late October.

"All my life I've tried to use music to bring people together. Yet it saddens me to see how misinformation is now being used to divide our world," John tweeted.

The musician, who has 1.1 million followers, added: "I've decided to no longer use Twitter, given their recent change in policy which will allow misinformation to flourish unchecked".

Musk was quick to reply, albeit in a polite manner expressing his gratitude towards John's music.

"I love your music. Hope you come back. Is there any misinformation in particular that you’re concerned about?" he said.
