Sensor Tower acquires market intelligence platform Data AI

App analytics company Sensor Tower said it is acquiring rival firm Data.ai in a move that could create a powerhouse entity in the mobile intelligence industry. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Both market intelligence platforms, Sensor Tower and Data.ai help businesses and developers track key metrics for their mobile apps, such as download estimates, active user base, in-app revenue generation, and user engagement relative to specific demographics and competitor performance.

With this acquisition, Sensor Tower aims to expand its customer base, mobile marketing and app intelligence products, and global presence. The company said this strategic move will "allow us to further strengthen our position as market leader in mobile app intelligence".


As per a report, Sensor Tower is also laying off many employees of data.ai's team. "Sensor Tower will absorb part of data.ai’s 400-person team and as such has announced a workforce reduction,” the report said, citing a company statement.

“Today we celebrate the beginning of a new and exciting chapter, not only for Sensor Tower, but for the digital marketing and mobile app intelligence industry as a whole.” Oliver Yeh, CEO of Sensor Tower, said in a statement.
