Khadim Batti, cofounder and chief executive officer of enterprise software startup Whatfix, passed away on Tuesday following a cardiac arrest.

Vara Kumar, Whatfix's cofounder, told employees in an email that Batti had spoken with him at length on Monday night and that they had discussed their respective health situations. “He had been maintaining his health very well,” Kumar wrote.

Batti's family has decided to hold his last rites and religious rituals in his hometown in Gujarat, Kumar said in the email.

Batti cofounded Whatfix with Kumar in 2014. The Bengaluru-founded company went on to build a digital adoption platform that helps enterprises drive the use of software applications through in-app guidance, training and analytics.

Batti had more than two decades of experience in the technology industry before cofounding Whatfix. He had earlier worked at Huawei and cofounded SearchEnabler with Kumar before the duo pivoted to the idea that became Whatfix.

Whatfix's website describes Batti as an entrepreneur who also spent years mentoring founders and technology professionals.

Under Batti's leadership, Whatfix expanded its presence across global markets and built a customer base that included large enterprises. The company has raised funding from investors including SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Sequoia Capital India (now Peak XV Partners), Cisco Investments, Dragoneer and Warburg Pincus. Warburg Pincus led a $125 million investment in Whatfix in 2024, valuing the company at close to $800 million.

Batti was also an active angel investor in India's startup ecosystem, backing companies across enterprise software, AI, healthcare and EV infrastructure. His portfolio included startups such as NanoNets, Locale.ai, GTM Buddy, UrbanPiper, ElectricPe, Ayu Health, Drivetrain, AppEQ.AI, Factors.AI and mirrAR. His last publicly recorded investment was in mirrAR's November 2023 funding round.
