In the past two quarters, the platform has achieved 45% month-on-month (MoM) growth. Over two lakh customers have shopped from the platform in eight months of operations, according to the company.
Founder and chief executive Ayyappan R of FirstClub told ET that the company plans to launch its services in new cities and launch new categories in the coming months. “We are rapidly expanding,” he said, adding, “Recently, we have launched cleaning essentials on our app and plan to enter more categories in the coming months.”
Launched in June last year, the startup founded by former chief executive of Flipkart-owned Cleartrip, Ayyappan, has raised $31 million so far in funding from investors like Accel, RTP Global, and more.
Currently, the company is clocking an annualised order run rate of 1.2 million orders.
Labelled the ‘Costco for India,' the startup provides a curated range of over 4,000 stock-keeping units (SKUs) of mass-premium products spanning food, FMCG, fresh produce, fruits and vegetables, bakery, dairy, packaged foods, and nutrition, delivered within 30 minutes.
“About 40% of our sales come from fresh and vegetable categories, and the rest from non-fresh items,” said Ayyappan. The platform has both external brands on its platform, along with ‘Member’s Pick,’ which is its in-house brand.
Currently, FirstClub has 15 dark stores, which it calls 'clubhouses,' across the city. The company is also offering consumers the option to visit its mini warehouses by booking a slot to maintain transparency amid questions raised over dark store hygiene across the industry.
Apart from groceries, FirstClub also offers quick food items like overnight soaked oats, fresh juices, and more.
