PM Modi, Nvidia chief Jensen Huang discuss India’s potential in AI
While Nvidia is emerging as a critical player in the booming field of AI because of its graphics processing units, India, too, is witnessing some high-quality research in the field from Big Tech firms.

“Had an excellent meeting with Mr. Jensen Huang, the CEO of @nvidia. We talked at length about the rich potential India offers in the world of AI. Mr. Jensen Huang was appreciative of the strides India has made in this sector and was equally upbeat about the talented youth of India,” the prime minister posted on X, formerly Twitter.
With the rapid expansion of AI following the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Nvidia is emerging as a critical player in the booming field of AI. The dependence of AI companies on Nvidia’ graphics processing units (GPUs) has given the chip giant an edge over most of its competitors.
Nvidia’s shares have been on the upswing and the company hit the $1-trillion mark earlier this year.
Amid this boom, India, too, is being pegged as a key player that can contribute to the burgeoning ecosystem.
Adobe Inc’s India teams are helping build the next-gen AI-ready solutions for the company, said CEO Shantanu Narayen. He added that the company is driving the development of several global products from India.
“There’s this recently-released feature called Generative Recolor — think about text, you identify a text and you want to get a prompt or a vector to start your creative process — all of that development is happening here, right here in the Noida office,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Microsoft’s vice-chairman and president Brad Smith said the firm’s India teams are at the forefront of research on the efficient use of AI solutions.
