GlobalLogic elevates Piyush Jha as MD, head of India and APAC

Digital engineering firm GlobalLogic has elevated Piyush Jha to managing director and head of India and APAC with immediate effect. He replaces Sumit Sood, who has now been appointed chief operating officer (COO) of GlobalLogic.

A founding member of GlobalLogic, Jha was most recently senior vice president- strategy and technology, APAC.

The reshuffle follows the appointment of former COO Nitesh Banga to CEO in August last year, with Sood replacing him.


Jha has been closely involved in building technology teams and design labs at GlobalLogic, as well as managing design, technology and global delivery teams. He told ET that he will focus on three vectors to grow the business. “We will continue to grow organically. We will also intend to get into new geographies, and have already expanded to Japan last year,” he said.

Next on the horizon are Australia and New Zealand, where the company has hired a new team, followed by West Asia. The final focus area will be acquisitions in the APAC region, particularly in India.

In 2021, Japanese tech firm Hitachi acquired GlobalLogic for $9.6 billion. Jha said the two companies were already working together on several deals and that this would help the company pursue its organic growth at a faster pace.
India is an important market for the engineering services firm, accounting for about a third of its total revenue. It is also home to half of its 28,000-odd employees.

In his new role as COO, Sood will be responsible for overseeing global delivery, learning, IT and global operations for the company.
