Partners earn on par with IT freshers, top performers make over Rs 51,000 a month: Urban Company
Urban Company said its service partners earned higher average monthly incomes this year compared to last, despite growing unrest in the gig economy. The company highlighted steady demand, insurance cover, and pension access as signs of improved wo...

The earnings data comes in the backdrop of protests across the gig economy. On December 31, 2025, more than 200,000 delivery workers working for platforms such as Zomato, Blinkit, Swiggy, Instamart, Zepto, Amazon, and Flipkart went on strike, demanding better pay and social security benefits.
Earlier this month, hundreds of women gig workers gathered at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, seeking formal recognition as employees rather than ‘partners.’
In a post on X, Abhiraj Singh Bhal, cofounder and CEO of Urban Company (UC), said the data points to a “quiet but important shift toward dignified, skill-based work.” He added that these earnings are well above statutory minimum wages and on par with or better than entry-level IT salaries.
UC said that entry-level IT and ITeS salaries are assumed at Rs 4 lakh per annum based on publicly available industry data, including Glassdoor estimates, and added that partners saw steady demand across categories such as cleaning, repairs, beauty, and wellness.
The company’s index showed that earnings rose sharply for high-performing partners. The top 20% service professionals earned an average Rs 42,418 per month, while the top 10% earned Rs 47,471. The top 5% earned Rs 51,673 per month.
“On average, partners spent about 91 hours per month on the platform, translating into net earnings of around Rs 313 per hour,” the company stated.
Bhal explained that beyond earnings, all active service partners are covered under the firm’s life and accident insurance policies. “We’ve also partnered with HDFC Pension to enable access to the National Pension System (NPS), supporting long term financial security,” he said on X.
