OVHCloud to expand India presence

French Cloud computing firm OVHCloud is expanding its India operations after entering the Indian market through the acquisition of VMware’s vCloud Air in 2017.

The company will open its first point of presence in Mumbai by year end, Lionel Legros, GM-Asia Pacific, OVHCloud told ET.

“India is the largest country in the APAC region for us, both in terms of customers and revenues. We started the Indian market push last year with the startup and partner program,” he said.


The company follows a September-August fiscal year and reported a 60% increase in customers in the second half of the year over the first.

OVHCloud has a research and development facility in Bengaluru.

“We have a competency centre in India and are doing technical onboarding for customers and partners. Bengaluru provides regional support for our APAC customers,” said Legros.

The company started out working with Indian customers to help them expand globally.

Now, it has put in place a local go-to-market strategy and wants to develop the local market.

Legros estimates that by 2025, about 60% of the Cloud market will be focused on small and medium enterprises and this will be an important part of the OVHCloud strategy in India.

Once the centre is operational, the company will be investing further in strengthening its network and work with local operators to extend its global backbone to India.

It will also hire more people in India once this happens.

The French firm is the only European firm among the top eight global public cloud providers, according the market research firm IDC.
