Pune: Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, geospatial mapping and space imagery are playing a significant role in government initiatives across diverse fields, be it mapping skilled workers, improving agricultural yields or improving logistics efficiency through marque projects like PM Gati Shakti, according to the Economic Survey 2021-22.

One of these is the Aatmanirbhar Skilled Employees Employer Mapping (ASEEM) portal, a digital platform created to match supply of skilled workforce with the market demand, which is functioning as a directory of the skilled workforce.

According to the survey, the portal consists of AI-driven interfaces such as connecting applicants to hyper-local jobs using machine learning and automated match.

For supporting the micro-small and medium enterprises, it has created a technology platform called CHAMPIONS portal which has a network of control rooms created in a hub and spoke model where the hub is situated in the Ministry of MSME, whereas 68 spokes are located across the country in various offices and institutions of the ministry to handhold the MSME and nurture them into bigger enterprises.

“Recognising that testing and certification are crucial for enhancing the competitiveness of Indian goods and services, a portal called ‘PARAKH’ has been set up in June 2021, wherein all the accredited, certified and recognised laboratories in the country would be mapped on a Geographic Information System (GIS),” said the survey.
