Meta Platforms hit by outage as Instagram, Facebook see surge in user complaints

Services across Meta Platforms appeared to face disruption on Thursday evening, with users reporting issues on Instagram and Facebook, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.

Instagram saw the sharpest spike, with reports jumping to over 7,500 around 7:45 p.m., indicating a widespread disruption. Facebook also recorded a rise in complaints, though at a lower level, with reports crossing 500 shortly after 8:00 p.m.

Users reported problems accessing feeds, posting content and loading the apps, suggesting a broader service issue affecting multiple platforms under Meta.


The scale of the outage and regions affected were not immediately clear. Meta had not issued an official statement at the time of writing.
