Mark Zuckerberg overtakes Jeff Bezos as world’s second-richest person; Elon Musk still on top

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, has overtaken Amazon founder Jeff Bezos to claim the title of the world’s second-richest individual, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Zuckerberg’s fortune has surged to $212 billion, edging past Bezos, whose net worth stands at $209 billion. It is interesting to note that Zuckerberg was the only one of the top three billionaires to see an increase in wealth.

Tesla boss Elon Musk continues to lead the global rich list, despite controversies owing to his involvement in the Donald Trump-led US government and slump in Tesla shares. His estimated net worth is $331 billion.


The shift in rankings follows a sharp 16% rise in Meta’s share price over the past month, outpacing Amazon’s comparatively modest 6.33% gain, as reported by The Times of India.

Back in March, ET had reported that the Hurun Global Rich List 2025 showed the tech sector dominating the upper ranks of wealth, with Musk, Bezos, and Zuckerberg then occupying the top three spots respectively.

Other prominent figures in the list included Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates, Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, OpenAI’s Sam Altman, and DeepSeek’s Liang Wenfeng.

According to Hurun's list, there are now 3,442 billionaires globally, an increase of 5% or 163 from last year. The list attributed this to the significant growth seen in AI and crypto.
