The incident happened during the platform’s flagship sale event, called ‘What The Fluff’.
“Saturday February 21, on the Early Access day of our flagship WTF Sale’26, we recorded the highest single-day revenue in Supertails’ five-year journey. On February 22, that momentum was interrupted. A fire broke out at a perfume warehouse located within the same premises as one of our leased warehouse facilities in Bengaluru,” the company said in a statement on its website. The fire reportedly spread and affected two other adjacent facilities besides Supertails' warehouse.
The company said that while all staff members at the site evacuated safely, the fire resulted in the total loss of all inventory stored at the facility.
“As a safety measure and the uncertainty about fulfillment of your orders, we decided to pause the WTF Sale,” the statement read. Supertails said it will announce new dates once its inventory is fully secured.
Supertails reported that less than 1% of total orders required cancellation due to the stock loss.
In the 72 hours following the incident, the company set up a new primary warehouse in Bengaluru and started operations from there yesterday.
Earlier this month, Supertails raised $30 million in a round led by Singapore-based investment firm Venturi Partners with participation from Nippon India Alternative Investments, Titan Capital Winners Fund, and existing investors Fireside Ventures, RPSG Capital Ventures, Sauce VC, and Saama Capital.
The Bengaluru-based company planned to use the funds to strengthen its end-to-end pet care ecosystem and expand its services to new geographies.
