Lufthansa Technik, the aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) arm of Germany’s Lufthansa Group, is evaluating Bengaluru for expanding its operations, industries minister MB Patil said on Wednesday.

Patil said this after meeting a delegation led by Marcel Pastuska, CEO, Lufthansa Technik Services India (Bengaluru). Annett Baessler, deputy consul general of Germany in Bengaluru, also attended the meeting.

The minister said the delegation was briefed on Bengaluru’s aviation ecosystem, international air connectivity, skilled talent pool, R&D capabilities and engineering expertise, as well as Karnataka’s aerospace and defence ecosystem and investor-friendly policies.

The state government will work with Invest India and other stakeholders to advance the company’s investment proposal, Patil said. If finalised, the investment could further strengthen Karnataka’s position as a hub for aerospace and defence manufacturing and services.

Lufthansa Technik’s delegation also included Julia Schmidt, strategy manager, Lufthansa Technik, Hamburg; Philipp Jessel, senior manager, corporate strategy, Hamburg; and Jayant Singh, area development manager, Asia Pacific, Singapore.
