Karnataka approves 6-acre Quantum City near Bengaluru
This comes a month after the state hosted the "Quantum India Bengaluru" conference, attended by Nobel laureates and leading scientists, as the state seeks to establish a lead in quantum technology.

In a post on X, the minister said, "By sanctioning 6.17 acres of land at Hesaraghatta for the establishment of a Quantum City (QCity), we have laid a strong and lasting foundation to position Karnataka as a global hub for quantum research and innovation."
This comes a month after the state hosted the "Quantum India Bengaluru" conference, attended by Nobel laureates and leading scientists, as the state seeks to establish a lead in quantum technology.
The QCity will offer facilities focused on research, industry development, and education. The minister also outlined state-of-the-art laboratories dedicated to quantum research, production clusters for quantum hardware and processors, and a Quantum High-Performance Computing (HPC) Data Centre.
Additionally, the new campus aims to foster collaboration between startups, industry, and academic institutions. "This is not just an investment in science, but an investment in our youth, our future, and Karnataka’s global leadership," the post read.
The state government aims to develop 1,000-qubit quantum processors and pilot applications in healthcare, cybersecurity, and defence, with active application in governance. Minister Boseraju said a quantum chip fabrication capability will be operational by the year-end.
