Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, announced the change in a post on Threads and Instagram.
"We updated the Instagram wordmark today, which is more than a decade old and felt dated. We feel the refresh is sharper and more modern, but references the original and has the simplicity and craft that's always made it Instagram," he said.
The redesign replaces the platform’s familiar cursive lettering with a hybrid style that combines more conventional typography with script-inspired curves. Elements of the letters, including the “s”, “r” and “g”, retain a distinctive stylised treatment.
The update applies to the text-based wordmark displayed at the top of the app and does not change Instagram’s multicoloured camera icon, according to reports.
