India’s techade bringing digital revolution to grassroots level: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday emphasized that this is 'India's techade' while addressing the nation in his Independence Day speech at the Red Fort.

"India's techade is here," he said. "With 5G, semiconductor manufacturing, and optical fibres in villages, we are bringing a revolution through Digital India to the grassroots level."

He said that all of this will revolutionise education and healthcare and bring about a change in the lives of the common people.

He went on to add that the country's science missions and startups are shaping the future of India. He also stated that the success of Digital India and startups has been driven by youth from tier-II and tier-III cities.

The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of a self-reliant India or 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat.' He said that it was the responsibility of every citizen, every government, and every unit of society.

"Self-reliant India -- this is not a government agenda or a government program. This is a mass movement of the society, which we have to take forward," he said while calling on the private sector to ensure that "made in India" products are spread globally.

He highlighted that it was after 75 years that the country heard the "proud sound of a Made-in-India weapon in the Independence Day gun salute."

Further, the PM added that the government's PLI schemes have invited global players into India and have also led to India becoming a manufacturing powerhouse of the world.

"I invite the private sector to come forward and conquer the world," the Prime Minister said.
