Two years since the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, received Presidential assent on August 11, 2023, and was published in the Gazette, India's first data protection legislation has still not been enforced. Notification of the final rules, which were released in January this year, that provide teeth to the legislation is still pending.
