Google For India | One billion Indians will be online by 2025: Google India VP Sanjay Gupta
At the Google for India event, Gupta added that the tech giant would look to support early-stage companies in India, with a focus on women-led startups.

Emphasising the importance of artificial intelligence (AI), Gupta said: “Technology has the potential to become the single largest contributor to India’s economy. With the power of AI, we can democratise opportunity by building ramps through language, video, and safety.”
Gupta added that Google would also support early-stage companies here with a focus on women-led startups. “Most of recorded history has one big data gap, with women missing,” said Sapna Chadha, vice-president of marketing at Google India & Southeast Asia.
Innovations in visual and voice search were also a highly-discussed theme at the event, with Liz Reid, VP of Google Search, saying India was at the forefront of global visual and voice search adoption.
Reid also announced the launch of new features in Google Search that would let users search within videos.
“High-quality search results to be available in local languages along with English in Google Search. Voice search can now understand people who speak Hinglish,” said Puneet Kumar, general manager of search at Google India.
Kumar added that the percentage of Indians who use voice search is twice the global average.
