Google on Thursday unveiled "Personal Intelligence", a major update to its Gemini AI, to give users a personalised experience across their digital ecosystem

This new mode will allow Gemini to securely connect with a person's Gmail, YouTube, Google Photos, and Search to offer responses that are supposedly “hyper-relevant” to their life.

Unlike standard AI interactions, Personal Intelligence will "connect the dots" between different apps. For instance, Gemini will be able to draft travel itineraries based on past vacation photos or suggest gym routines tailored to specific goals shared in previous chats.

Google said privacy is a central pillar of the rollout. The feature will be off by default, and users maintain total control over which specific apps Gemini can access. Google also emphasised that this personal data is referenced only to answer specific queries and is not used to train the underlying AI models.

Personal Intelligence's beta mode is being made available to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the US. Expansion to the free tier, more countries, and integration into Search’s "AI Mode" may happen in the next few months.
