From Sundar Pichai to Satya Nadella, How Jeff Bezos' tech peers reacted to his Amazon exit

Following Jeff Bezos's announcement to step down as the chief executive of Amazon on Tuesday, several tech executives are congratulating the world's richest man and his successor Andy Jassy who is set to take over the helm of the e-commerce giant in the third quarter.

In a letter to Amazon employees, Bezos announced his decision to focus his energies and attention on new products and early initiatives. "As Exec Chair I will stay engaged in important Amazon initiatives but also have the time and energy I need to focus on the Day 1 Fund, the Bezos Earth Fund, Blue Origin, The Washington Post, and my other passions," Bezos said.

Alphabet chief executive Sundar Pichai conveyed his best wishes to Bezos for Day 1 and Earth fund.



Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella congratulated Bezos and Jassy on their roles. "A well-deserved recognition of what you have accomplished," he said.


Salesforce chief executive Marc Benioff took to Twitter to congratulate Andy Jassy and said that Amazon "could not be in better hands."


Salesforce president and chief operating officer Brey Taylor also chimed in to say he has been a long admirer of Andy Jassy and Amazon will be in great hands.


Box chief executive Aaron Levie said that Bezos created the blueprint for building internet businesses, being hyper customer-centric, and scaling disruptive innovation.


Marcelo Claure, the executive chairman at WeWork, welcomed Bezos to the "executive chairman club."


Fable founder and former Cisco Chief Technology and Strategy Officer Padmasree Warrior called Jassy's promotion a "well deserved step-up."
