The Chairman also said he was set to make a trip to India this year. He last visited India in July last year to attend the Semicon India conclave where he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Liu was conferred with Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award, on the eve of the 75th Republic Day this year.
"I am privileged to accept this award on behalf of all the fine women and men who work to do our part in growing local economies in India... I look forward to meeting Madam President in India this year," Liu said in a statement.
Liu's words come at a time when the company is battling allegations of discrimination in hiring against married women at their factories in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai.
The Chairman being awarded the Padma Bhushan is also significant as it underlines the importance that the government accords the Taiwanese player as it ramps up its presence rapidly in the country.
Foxconn is not only expanding its iPhone production facility but is also setting up a chip plant in a joint venture with HCL Group apart from mulling entering new segments. ET had reported last week that the contract manufacturer, best known for assembling the iPhone is looking at a possible foray into AI server manufacturing in India. Aside from this, reports also suggest that the company is set to work on the Google Pixel phones in India.
