Chennai: Enphase Energy is looking to achieve a 10% share in the rooftop solar market in the next two years.

The microinverter-based solar-plus-storage systems supplier’s current market share is about 4%, it said.

Enphase sees incredible growth potential in India and has partnered with Salcomp to provide an impetus both domestically and export-wise for the country, said Sunil Thamaran, VP and MD at Enphase Energy India.

The company has exported microinverters to North America, Europe, and Asia from the Salcomp SEZ plant, he said in a statement.

“Besides that, about 60% of Enphase Energy's global workforce is in India. We play a crucial role in designing and developing hardware and software components, which creates the solar-plus-storage-based energy management system," Thamaran added.

Enphase focuses on the residential and small commercial buildings space.

In Tamil Nadu, there has been a spurt in enquiries, said Manoj Gopalan Nair, senior director of sales.

Enphase’s India manufacturing unit, set up in partnership with Salcomp in Sriperumbudur on the outskirts of Chennai, has an annual capacity of 6 million units, which are currently exported.

Localization of components is about 5% but is expected to touch over 50% in the next two years, according to the company.
