Elon Musk on Saturday criticised former Twitter (now X) CEO Parag Agrawal, hours after directing all United States federal employees to submit a detailed account of their workweek.

Musk, who heads the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the Trump administration, responded to an X user's post that highlighted a parallel between his recent directive and his previous interactions with Agrawal.

"DOGE: Almost three years ago Elon Musk asked Parag Agrawal what he got done last week. Now he's asking every federal worker the same question," the user posted.

In response, Musk said, "Parag got nothing done. Parag was fired."

The DOGE department has sent emails to employees across federal agencies, including the Securities and Exchange Commission, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, with the subject line: “What did you do last week?”

As per Media reports, the email instructs employees to reply with five bullet points summarising their accomplishments from the previous week, copying their managers. Employees have until 11:59 pm EST on Monday to respond.

Trump, in a Truth Social post, stated that the federal government needs to be downsized and restructured to improve efficiency and reduce wasteful spending.

Musk vs Agrawal

Musk acquired Twitter in 2022 and rebranded it as X. One of his first actions as owner was to dismiss Agrawal. Following his dismissal, Agrawal and three other former executives sued Musk for allegedly failing to pay $128 million in severance.

Musk’s latest move aligns with his broader efforts to overhaul work cultures in both private and public sectors, mirroring his stance during the early days of his X acquisition.
