The simple exchange sparked a flurry of quirky responses from users. One asked, “Elon can you make India’s version of X read-only?”

Another joked, “Mom said stop wasting time on X… now I tell her I’m watching the news.” A third user chimed in with a sharper take: “X should be geoblocked in India.”

This development comes as Musk’s interest in India seems to be gaining momentum. After discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Tesla boss hinted at an upcoming visit to the country.

Modi, posting on X, said the pair discussed “the immense potential for collaboration in areas of technology and innovation between India and the US.” To this, Musk replied, “I am looking forward to visiting India later this year!”

Tesla, meanwhile, has been amping up its activity in India. ET reported on Monday that the electric vehicle giant is in early talks with US-based memory chipmaker Micron and Mumbai-based CG Semi—part of the Murugappa Group—as it seeks to diversify and reduce reliance on traditional supply hubs like China for inputs.
