The Delhi High Court on Wednesday reserved its judgment in the suit filed by the Alliance of Digital India Foundation (ADIF) against the Competition Commission of India (CCI) and Google.

The ADIF, which represents Indian startups like Paytm, Matrimony, MapmyIndia, TrulyMadly, had filed a plea with the court seeking an urgent CCI review of Google's new in-app purchase billing system, which is set to be applicable from April 26.

In its petition, the industry body had urged the court to ask the CCI to look into its complaints against Google's user choice billing (UCB) system urgently or put the new policy under abeyance pending a review.

The ADIF had alleged that Google was engaging in anti-competitive conduct by implementing the UCB policy, and that it was taking advantage of CCI lacking quorum to look into the industry body's complaints against the tech giant.

The matter, which was before Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, was heard on Tuesday as well, when the counsels appearing for the parties argued on whether it was within the competition regulator's ambit to review ADIF's complaints and pass an urgent verdict on whether Google's conduct is in contravention of the CCI's October order against the company.
