Tummala, who joins from Salesforce where he was vice president, will oversee the company’s $250 million India investment aimed at research, training and go-to-market operations.
“We’re excited to welcome Kamal to our leadership team as we expand in India, one of our most dynamic and strategic growth markets,” said Ed Lenta, general manager, Asia Pacific and Japan, Databricks.
Tummala, who has held leadership roles at Salesforce and MindTree, said, “In India’s dynamic landscape, data and AI are reshaping every organisation, and Databricks is uniquely positioned to help enterprises build a lasting competitive advantage.”
Databricks, valued at over $100 billion after its Series K round, counts HDFC Bank, Swiggy, TVS Motors and Zepto among its Indian clients. It has recently expanded its Bengaluru R&D centre and launched the India Data + AI Academy.
