CloudHQ to invest $4.8 billion to build Mexico data centers

US tech firm CloudHQ will invest $4.8 billion in a project to build six data centers in Mexico's central Queretaro state over the coming years, a company executive said on Thursday, adding these would be used to fuel cloud computing and AI.

Chief Operating Officer Keith Harney, speaking at a press conference with Mexico's president and economy minister, said CloudHQ was seeking a long-term tenant lease before it proceeds with the construction of the site.

The data centers will use a waterless cooling system, he added.
