After two years of sluggish growth, fintech firm Cashfree Payments posted a 52% year-on-year jump in operating revenue to Rs 967.2 crore in the fiscal year ended March 2026, as the company earned higher payment gateway commissions from more merchants on its platform.

Net loss in FY26 narrowed to Rs 118.7 crore from Rs 154.7 crore a year ago, according to its regulatory filings sourced from business intelligence platform Tofler India.

Ebitda (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) loss improved to Rs 90.8 crore in FY26, from a loss of Rs 131.8 crore in the preceding year, despite a 38% jump in total expenses.

Over the last two years, Cashfree reported marginal growth in revenue and no improvement in the bottom line following a year-long ban by the Reserve Bank of India on online payment aggregators from onboarding new merchants, which was lifted in late 2023.

In FY24, Cashfree Payments’ revenue from operations increased only 4% to Rs 639 crore, while losses remained largely flat at Rs 135 crore. Then in FY25, revenue dipped marginally to Rs 635.8 crore, while losses rose 14% to Rs 154.7 crore.

Backed by investors such as Krafton, State Bank of India, and Y-Combinator, Cashfree Payments provides payment processing and banking infrastructure that helps businesses manage online transactions. The company holds all three RBI payment licenses - Payment Aggregator (PA), Payment Aggregator-Cross Border (PA-CB), and Prepaid Payment Instrument (PPI).

In March, RBI slapped a Rs 3.1 lakh penalty on the company for non-compliance with its directions. The RBI found that Cashfree made certain "impermissible debit" from an escrow account, an official statement said.
