Gupta will now lead Cashfree Payments' growth initiatives, including its go-to-market strategy across sales, revenue operations and expanding market presence in India, the Bengaluru-based company said in a statement on Thursday.
“His wealth of experience and record of guiding companies through dynamic growth stages will be of great value to Cashfree Payments’ ambitious plans going forward,” said Akash Sinha, cofounder and CEO of Cashfree Payments.
The company will also see another transition in its organisational structure with Arun Tikko, the chief business officer, being elevated to a bigger role to lead the international expansion of its business across new markets.
Outside of India, Cashfree Payments is expanding its presence in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) through its acquired partner, Telr.
“I am thrilled to be part of Cashfree Payments as it boldly progresses towards the next stage of growth and transformation. I look forward to helping shape the next phase of our journey, ensuring we meet our long-term goals,” Gupta said.
Cashfree Payments, backed by Silicon Valley investor Y Combinator, Apis Partners and State Bank of India, was granted the payment aggregator licence in December 2023, enabling it to onboard new merchants. The company said it currently processes transactions worth over $80 billion annually and caters to over 600,000 businesses in India for digital payment solutions.
In FY23, the company saw its revenue from operations rising 75% on year to Rs 614 crore. However, it recorded a loss of Rs 133 crore in the same period, a significant jump from Rs 3 crore in the previous year.
