Dating app Bumble on Wednesday said it will cut nearly 30% of its global workforce, impacting over 240 roles.

The decision was made as the company realigns its operating structure to focus on "strategic priorities," it said in a securities filing.

Bumble anticipates saving $40 million per year as a result of the workforce reduction and plans to reinvest most of this money into product and technology development.

Additionally, it said it will incur about $13 million to $18 million to cover costs consisting primarily of employee severance, benefits, and related charges for impacted employees, which is largely going to be a cash-based transaction.

“The actions associated with the elimination of positions are subject to local law and consultation requirements in certain countries, which may extend this process beyond the fourth quarter of 2025,” the company said.

Bumble expects total revenue between $244 million and $249 million and adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (Ebitda) between $88 million and $93 million in the upcoming quarter.

Bumble shares rose over 15% on Wednesday after the company announced its plan to reduce its workforce.

The development comes during a time when the company's founder, Whitney Wolfe Herd, who had previously stepped down as CEO at the beginning of 2024, returned to the role again earlier this year.
