Big tech regulation in Brazil is a matter of sovereignty, says minister

Brazil’s Planning minister Simone Tebet stated that regulating big tech firms is non-negotiable, emphasising their responsibility in preventing crime. She called such regulation essential to Brazil’s sovereignty.

Brazil Planning Minister Simone Tebet on Tuesday said that regulation for big tech companies in the country was non-negotiable when it came to their responsibility for condoning crime.

Such regulation is a part of Brazil's sovereignty, Tebet said in a interview with news channel GloboNews, which also focused on the 50% tariffs US President Donald Trump said he would impose on Brazil starting on August 1.
