Samsung's range of Bespoke AI devices are targeted to comprise 70% of the total sales of the total home appliances by the end of FY25, Saurabh Baishakhia, Senior Director for Digital Appliances, Samsung India said.

Shifting from product-specific AI to platform-specific AI, consumer electronics brand, Samsung on Wednesday, globally launched a range of ‘Bespoke AI’ home appliances.

The range of appliances in India includes refrigerators, air conditioners, microwaves, and washing machines.

With inbuilt Wi-Fi, internal cameras, and AI chips, these appliances will work on the Tizen operating system. To ensure privacy, the technology is Knox-guarded and end-to-end encrypted.

The AI algorithm in these devices will monitor energy usage and help optimize it based on the individual’s specific usage pattern. Users will be able to set their target, and the AI will help estimate the electricity cost per month based on the usage pattern and give tips to meet the target.

“We are introducing Bespoke AI, our next big innovation in home appliances which will ensure smarter living for Indian homes and reduce energy consumption, contributing to a greener planet,” JB Park, President & CEO of Samsung Southwest Asia said.

The company said that AI Energy Mode can give up to 10% energy savings in refrigerators, 20% in Air conditioners, and up to 70% in washing machines. With Bespoke appliances, Samsung also said that they would be reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

Baishakhia added, “With AI appliances, our objective is to further strengthen our premium portfolio and increase our share in the premium appliances segment.” The price of the products is yet to be announced.

These Bespoke appliances will also provide voice assistance with Bixby. The Smart Forward feature will help with the upkeep and maintenance of the devices. It will notify in case of any abnormality and remind the user for servicing of the devices.

While the AI tech in these appliances is tweaked according to the needs of the Indian audience, it will also keep learning the user’s preference over a period of time.
