Apple tells EU Commission it meets Digital Markets Act (DMA) thresholds

Apple has informed the European Commission that Apple Ads and Apple Maps meet the Digital Markets Act thresholds. Regulators will now assess whether to label Apple a gatekeeper, which would require compliance within six months.

US tech giant Apple told the European Commission its core platform services Apple Ads and Apple Maps meet the thresholds set by the Digital Markets Act, the Commission said in a statement on Friday.

The EU Commission has 45 working days to decide whether to designate Apple as a gatekeeper for any of these services and if designated, Apple will have six months to comply with the act's requirements.
