A hybrid workplace is the future: Zoom CEO

“The day when we all go back, I think, it won’t be the same way we worked before,” Zoom Video Communications' CEO Eric Yuan says at the Nasscom Technology and Leadership Forum 2021.

Bengaluru: Hybrid workplaces will become mainstream, and people will not go back to the old ways of working even after the Covid-19 pandemic subsides, Zoom Video Communications’ top executive Eric Yuan said, adding that this would give new use cases for the video conferencing app.

“The day when we all go back, I think, it won’t be the same way we worked before,” Yuan, Zoom’s founder and CEO, said on Thursday at the Nasscom Technology and Leadership Forum 2021. “Hybrid work will become mainstream and tools like Zoom will stay…more use cases will emerge.”

The coronavirus pandemic triggered a shift in work culture as governments issued stay-at-home orders, benefitting video conferencing tools like Zoom.

“The year 2020 was a crazy year on many fronts. Look at our growth,” he said, adding that daily meeting participants jumped from 10 million in December 2019 to 250 million just a few months later.

He said India was an important market for Zoom.
