About 70 Indians trapped in KK Park, a known cybercrime hub in Myanmar, have been rescued by the country's armed forces and moved to Mae Sot, a border town in Thailand. Indian authorities in Thailand are monitoring the situation and coordinating their return, The Times of India reported.

According to TOI sources, while around 15 of those rescued are from Gujarat, 20 are from Rajasthan, five are from Andhra Pradesh, two are from Telangana, and the others from Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, and Karnataka. Five of the victims are women, mainly from Gujarat and Maharashtra.

KK Park, a major centre for online scams, was recently raided by Myanmar’s Border Guard Forces (BGF), who freed individuals coerced into cybercriminal activities. The crackdown follows reports of foreign nationals, including Indians, being forced into fraudulent operations. The BGF, which has faced international criticism for allegedly colluding with the Chinese-run scam centres, was involved in the operation and has vowed to target other such facilities.

The illegal detention is part of a broader trend in which Indians have been lured to Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar under false job promises only to be forced into cybercrime. The victims have recounted instances of physical assault and coercion by Chinese handlers, who forced them to engage in online fraud and phishing scams.

Reports suggest that some Indians are also willingly participating in such operations. Meanwhile, similar crackdowns are underway in Cambodia, where several Indians have been freed from cybercrime rings.
