Ola Electric on Wednesday postponed putting on sale its highly anticipated S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters by a week, but said that deliveries would not be delayed, after facing technical difficulties with making its website for purchases live, according to the company.

The Bengaluru-based company’s founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal in a post on Twitter apologised to buyers who he said “had to wait for several hours”, adding that the website was just not up to Ola’s expectations on quality.

Buyers and others who logged onto the website to purchase the scooters, which were initially slated to go on sale at 6:00 pm, were shown prices higher than the ones that Ola had advertised.

Several of them took to Twitter to share screenshots pointing out the difference in prices, with a few disgruntled users on the micro-blogging platform even asking the company if they should cancel their bookings.

ET could not ascertain if these persons had in actuality booked the S1 and S1 Pro scooters or not.

“We’ve built a completely digital purchase journey, including a fully digital loan process without any paperwork. We wanted to provide this first of its kind digital purchase journey and today we haven’t been able to,” said Aggarwal in a 9:42 pm Twitter post.

He added that the company would start allowing customers to purchase the vehicles from 8:00 am onwards on September 15, and that the position of people in the queue to buy the vehicle would remain unchanged.

“Our delivery dates also remain unchanged,” Aggarwal stated.

Ola has said that its S1 and S1 Pro scooters will go on sale in October this year at a price of Rs 99,999 and Rs 1,29,999 (ex-showroom including FAME II subsidy and excluding state subsidies) respectively.
