Chennai: Granicus is looking to achieve its 'hyper growth' ambitions through talent acquired in India, Mark Hynes CEO of the GovTech solutions provider told ET while speaking about the launch of their innovation centre in Bengaluru.

Granicus is a fully integrated, drag-and-drop platform that allows public administrations to quickly digitize, track, and enhance every step of their services without having to write bespoke code and serves over 5,000 public sector organizations.

"We're looking to continue to fuel our growth through talent in India," Hynes said.

Granicus has around 1000 employees worldwide. There are over 50 employees working out of the Bengaluru office and the company is aggressively hiring to reach a target of around 200 employees by the end of the year.

While the company is tapping talent in India, it is not looking at India as a market just yet.

"India is a rich, thriving, high growth economy," he said. "Our presence in India for talent gives us an opportunity to evaluate it as a market for our software and services down the road."

The reason for this being that while the company works extensively in the US, it realises that governments across the world face similar challenges when it comes to IT and software services. Hynes said that the scope is tremendous for govtech as after financial services it the government that is the largest vertical market for IT and software in the world.

"We're all familiar with the transition from on-premise software to SaaS cloud software," he explained. "The government globally has always been a late adopter to new technologies and for very good reason. They're protecting some of the most private data in the world but every organisation on the planet is moving to SaaS cloud, including government, so we're helping governments make the transition."

Ranga Shetty will be steering the India operations as General Manager, the company said.
