Google launches Pixel 5a: Here’s all we know about the phone

Intended as a follow up to both the Pixel 5 and the Pixel 4a (5G) and is pretty much identical to the latter, except it has a bigger display, more battery and is IP67 water resistant.

The Pixel 5a comes with an improved 4,680 mAh battery - reportedly the biggest on any Pixel phone - and a larger 6.34-inch 1080p OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate.

Google opted to keep the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC and the cameras - a 12-megapixel dual-pixel sensor, and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens.- from the 4a (5G).

Some good news for audiophiles - the 5a has a 3.5mm earphone jack, a feature that has become almost obsolete in the last few years.

Currently, Google has only launched the phone in the USA and Japan, priced at $449 (approximately Rs 33,400). India availability is yet to be announced. Shipping for America and Japan begins on August 26.
