Former UpGrad CEO Arjun Mohan returns to Byju’s
Before his UpGrad stint, Arjun Mohan had spent a little over 11 years at K-12 edtech major Byju’s, where his last designation was chief business officer. Before that, he had worked at several Tata group companies.

While confirming that he is working with the company, Mohan, however, denied taking up that particular role. Speaking to ET, he said, “I am working with Byju’s founder Byju Raveendran on multiple things but I have not joined the company in this (international business head) role.”
A spokesperson for Byju’s did not immediately respond to queries from ETtech.
Byju’s, which acquired overseas companies such as Tynker and Epiq over the past few years, is currently undertaking a massive workforce retrenchment exercise in its global subsidiaries.
Mohan was formerly the chief executive of UpGrad India. He joined the Mumbai-based company in April 2020, and quit this January.

In its edition dated June 30, ET Prime had mentioned that Mohan may return to Byju’s.
The Bengaluru-based online education platform and its founder Raveendran have suffered a series of setbacks, including getting embroiled in lawsuits with its lenders, and facing resignations by its auditor and board members.
Due to delays in the filing of its financial statements for the year ended March 31, 2022, the company has also drawn the attention of the Indian government. ET had reported on a probe of Byju’s books by the ministry of corporate affairs (MCA).
