UIDAI partners with Sarvam AI to deploy GenAI solution for Aadhaar services

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has partnered with Bengaluru-based generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) startup Sarvam AI to enhance the user experience across Aadhaar services, the government body said on Tuesday.

As part of the agreement, Sarvam AI will deploy its voice-based interaction platform for resident-centric use cases, effective immediately. The engagement is valid for one year, with a provision for extension by another year.

The AI-enabled system aims to deliver near real-time feedback to Aadhaar number holders, including notifications around potential overcharging during enrolment and updates. It will also issue real-time fraud alerts in case of suspicious activity during authentication, UIDAI said in a press statement.


The platform will initially support 10 Indian languages: Hindi, English, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Odia, Punjabi and Malayalam. More languages will be added over the coming months.

Sarvam AI has built a custom GenAI stack that will be hosted on-premises within UIDAI’s infrastructure, ensuring that no data leaves the authority’s secure environment, and maintaining compliance with data sovereignty and security protocols.
