Swiggy is shutting down Minis, an online service for small businesses to create their digital presence, people aware of the matter told ET. The services offered on the platform for sellers will be discontinued from August 10.

This comes at a time when the platform is facing intense competition from rivals in its core businesses: food delivery and quick commerce.

Launched in 2022, Minis was Swiggy's software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering that allowed local stores and direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands to create online stores without having to build a website or app. It worked on a zero-commission model.

Minis offered its services to small creators, professionals, and local businesses to sell their products, offer consultations and professional services, host webinars, and more. The Minis website page features store operators who sell a variety of products on the platform, including baking goods, handmade gifts, home-cooked food, etc.

Swiggy featured Minis on the app for a while. However, the segment has been removed from the app for over a year now. Moneycontrol was the first to report on the development.

Swiggy did not reply to ET’s queries at the time of publication of the story.

News website Moneycontrol reported the development first on Wednesday.

The Bengaluru-based food and grocery delivery firm has diversified its offering through segments including a professional services marketplace named Pyng, a hyperlocal delivery service Genie, a rapid food delivery service Snacc, and a travel and lifestyle concierge app Crew.

In May this year, Swiggy temporarily suspended the services of Genie across several cities due to operational constraints.
